Park Run or Volunteer

Park Run and Buddy Up Australia team up!

Buddy Up members regularly participate at Park Runs. On Saturday 14th of May 2022, they went one step further by volunteering at Park Run Whitfords Nodes in Perth WA

It was another way they could contribute to their local community and gain a sense of purpose.

The Buddy Up crew undertook roles such as timekeepers, marshalls and tail-end-Charlie walkers. Due to COVID, there were a few who couldn’t make it. This didn’t stop the team from supporting the event. With their sense of duty, and ability to adapt, the event was a success!

Buddy Up Event Leader, Jane Inglis, said “we volunteered at this event to make a difference in helping our local community get healthy and active. To be part of a community of like-minded people.”

We recognise that volunteering has many benefits for the wellbeing of our veteran and first responder community. As such, we run regular volunteering events for our members.

Here are 5 benefits of volunteering:

  1. Make a difference for a cause you believe in

  2. Gain a sense of meaning and purpose – boost self-esteem and self-worth

  3. Gain new experiences – a chance to try something new

  4. Gain new skills – great for your resume

  5. Meet new people – meet like-minded people and make new friends!
